Listed are services we have rendered over the years. Our commitment to the County and Liberia remains unwavering.
2023 - MFP constructed a three bedroom residence for teachers at Kaakudi Academy. Three teachers and a janitor were hired to serve the needs of the students. Kaakudi Academy, first ever school in Kaakudi village opened its doors in September to one hundred students.
2022 - MFP installed hand pump water wells in Seator village, Barrobo district and Rocktown, Harper district.
2021 - MFP installed a hand pump water well to the citizens of Kaakudi village in Harper district. Also donated to Tubman University’s Phoenix radio FM a mixer for the station.
2020 - MFP installed 2 hand held clean Water Pumps in zone 3 and zone 4, two communities in the Pleebo Sodoken district of Maryland County. MFP donated new electronic equipment to Phoenix Radio 102.7 FM at Tubman University. For the Covid-19 preventative awareness education, MFP donated 1,600 face masks to citizens in all 4 districts of the County. Distribution was carried out by volunteers of the National Rural Women Association and youth groups in some of the districts.
2019 - MFP celebrates 20 years of service to Maryland County. A 5 mile walk-a-thon was held in August and a Gala in November to generate more funds towards the Deep Water Hand Pump well installation.
2018 - MFP held a fundraiser towards an ongoing project for Deep Water Hand Pump Wells to be installed in the poorest towns and villages in Maryland County.
2017 - MFP facilitated the travel of Hon. Gyude Browne, Mayor of Harper City, Maryland County, invited guest by the Maryland Liberia Sister State committee, celebrating its 10th anniversary on the 13th of October. Hon. Browne met with Hon. John Wobensmith, Maryland Secretary of State and Hon. Luis Borunda, Deputy Secretary to discuss development projects initiatives for Maryland County.
2016 - MFP shipped a 40 ft. container of hospital supplies, hospital furniture, clothing, books, library books and beddings for the J.J. Dossen hospital and clinics in the County.
Monetary gifts were presented to two 2016 graduating students at Tubman University with the highest GPAs in the Sciences.
2015 - MFP initiated a GoFundMe fundraiser to raise funds for Deep Water Hand Pump Wells. Five barrels of medical supplies were shipped to TU and J. J Dossen Memorial Hospital. Some supplies were also donated and presented by Dr. Davis-Russell, President of TU to the Grand Cavalla Clinic which is run by the nursing students at the College Health Sciences.
2014 - First delivery of supplies from MFP to the William V.S. Tubman University Ebola task force were presented in a formal ceremony to Dr. Odel Kumeh, the County Health Officer for distribution.
- JJ Dossen hospital – 2 thermometers, 3 packs of gloves & 3 containers of disinfectant wipes.
- Pleebo clinic – 1 thermometer, 3 packs of gloves & 2 containers of disinfectant wipes
- Cavalla clinic – 1 thermometer, 2 packs of gloves & 2 containers of disinfectant wipes
- Barrobo clinic – 1 thermometer, 2 boxes of gloves & 2 containers of disinfectant wipes
- TU – 3 thermometers (1 at Monrovia site & 2 main campus) & 1 container of disinfectant wipes
MFP donated Radio Phoenix station to the WVS Tubman University.
Project Director, Christian Herbert received 50 Solar Cooker Stoves and Water Pasteurization units for second phase (TOT) training in Maryland and River Gee counties.
Monetary gift from MFP was presented to a TU graduate student with the highest GPA.
Marylanders for Progress supported and co-sponsored with the William V.S. Tubman University Foundation Board nine students from three Historical Black Colleges Universities (HBCU) (Tuskegee, Howard, and Morgan State), to design the Harriet Tubman Centennial Ebrary and later made an on-site visit to Tubman University, Maryland County, Liberia, prior to completion and presentation of the final drawings.
2013 - Mr. Christian Herbert, MFP’s local NGO Director sponsored Mrs. Faustine Odaba, Director of Training of Trainers (TOT) from Kenya to conduct a Workshop on the W. V. S. Tubman University campus. From 30 April - 3 May, with participants from Maryland and River Gee Counties. Training was part of a UNDP/GEF/MFP climate change strategy, to promote renewable energy solutions for rural areas, conserve forest eco-systems, and introducing Solar Cookers, Water Pasteurization Indicators, and Improved Cook-stoves.
2012 - Donated 2 radio transmitters to Maryland County for the cities of Harper and Pleebo. Airwaves are serving Maryland and neighboring Counties and adjacent towns in Cote d'Ivoire.
2011 - Donated additional 154 classroom chairs, office furniture and equipment, library furniture, and computers to W.V.S. Tubman University. Donated children's books and clothing to the Lu Klayene Orphanage in Hoffman Station, Harper.
2010 - Contributions to the W.V.S. Tubman University were 164 classroom chairs and office equipment by the Honda Corporation of North America. Anonymous donor contributed 2 computers.
Shipment of children's toys and clothing to the Lu Klayene Orphanage in Hoffman Station, Harper. Children's books donated by the Lutherville Elementary School in Baltimore, Maryland to Newake Girls School in Barrobo District. Donated office furniture to the Pleebo City Corporation.
2009 – MFP- NGO Director developed the County’s Economic Empowerment Road Map booklet, “The Maryland Development Agenda.” Also sponsored and promoted Maryland County Women at the International Colloquium on Women Empowerment.
Shipped a forty foot container of clothing and hospital beddings for the J. J. Dossen Memorial hospital donated by the Japan Relief Clothing Center (JRCC).
2008 - MFP President visits Maryland County. "Chairs for Schools" fund raising project initiated.
2007 - Provided funding to Project Director and team to conduct Needs Assessment of Maryland County; opened local offices in Monrovia and Harper City; provided walkers, glucometers, beddings, blood pressure cuffs and stethoscopes for the J.J. Dossen Memorial hospital.
2006 – Funded and supplied instruments to the Cape Palmas Music Center for students; provided teacher’s salaries and books to Rocktown public school; Shipped medical supplies for Pleebo and raise funds for the Maryland County Education Fund program.
2005 - Purchased a 6.5 KVA diesel generator to preserve medical supplies and water pumps for the J.J. Dossen Memorial Hospital water reservoirs; Shipped clothing, children’s books and toys to Marylanders residing in Monrovia.
2004 - Sent 2 mobile phones to Tabou, Cote d’Ivoire to enable Maryland County refugees to connect with family members abroad; Registered MFP as a Non-governmental Organization (NGO) with the Government of Liberia, enabling us to support and fund programs for sectoral development in Maryland County.
2003 - Assisted Maryland County women residing in Monrovia with $700.00 for dues payment to the Southeastern women’s association and for filing Articles of Incorporation documents to initiate self-help projects.
2002 - Shipped 14 hospital beds and medical supplies to the J.J. Dossen Memorial hospital and clothing for distribution among citizens in Maryland County.
2001 – MFP shipped 20,000 text books for all grade school levels in Maryland County; Established a Credit Union with $2,800 for market women in all 4 districts to provide low interest micro-loans towards economic empowerment programs.
